Judy Banks Art

Since I can remember, I have drawn and painted. My Mum still has a drawing that I did in Pre-school of a horse with a saddle, and all the details.

When it came time to choose a career, I had no idea what to do so I began a Diploma of Fine Art at Bendigo Institute of Technology. I learnt many important aspects in preparation of canvases and abstract paintings consisting of straight lines, exact shapes, etc. But this was not for me, as I love to paint/draw what I see. I painted up till 1978 until the birth of my second child.

Travel forward to 2014. I was retired and had been dabbling in graphic design for t-shirts and websites. So in 2014-2015, I completed a Diploma of Graphic Design. The "Illustration" module ignited my passion for drawing once again and then I found the Pastel Society of Australia. Pastels were the challenge I needed to get back into the artworld.

In the following years, I moved into painting with acrylics, oils and lately watercolours. I have also experimented with resin, encaustic art and inks.

I am always learning about art. It will never end, thankfully, because I have a huge appetite for knowledge and there are great artists who share their skills.

I am a member of the Pastel Society of Australia and the Royal Queensland Art Society (Broadbeach Branch).
